Ready to Answer

Ready to Answer | Brother Shawn Parker Sunday School · 1 Peter 3:14-15 · Faith Baptist Church, Williston, Florida Brother Shawn Parker teaches 1 Peter 3:15 phrase by phrase: set God apart in your heart, be ready always, and answer for the hope that is in you with meekness and fear. In this message: • "Sanctify the Lord God in your hearts": give God the place of honor so His approval matters more than the approval of men (1 Peter 3:15) • The context is suffering for righteousness' sake: "be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled" (1 Peter 3:14) • "And he must needs go through Samaria": if God is set apart in the heart, we share His need to go (John 4:4) • "Be ready always": the heart of the righteous studieth to answer, so preparation comes beforehand (Proverbs 15:28) • Ready always means sober: a Christian should not willingly give up his clarity and judgment to drink • A prepared answer makes a Christian active, not passive: "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15) • The hope that is in you is Jesus Christ Himself, and God that cannot lie keeps His promises (1 Timothy 1:1; Titus 1:2) • Those without Christ "have no hope", and telling them who can give hope is not hateful (1 Thessalonians 4:13) • "With meekness and fear": not the fear of man, which bringeth a snare, but the fear of the Lord (Proverbs 29:25) Scripture: 1 Peter 3:14-15 · John 4:4 · Proverbs 15:28 · Mark 16:15 · 1 Timothy 1:1 · Titus 1:2 · 1 Thessalonians 4:13 · Proverbs 29:25 Also in this service: Congregational singing of hymn 424, "Send the Light", with opening and closing prayer.
