Seven Dispensations - Human Government | Pastor Jayson Hill Sunday School · Genesis 8:17-22 · Faith Baptist Church, Williston, Florida A study of the dispensation of human government - from Noah's altar and the bow in the cloud to Nimrod's tower at Babel, and the ancient trade of liberty for promised safety. In this message: • The dispensation of human government runs from after the flood until Babel is destroyed (Genesis 8-11) • Noah's first act off the ark is an altar and a burnt offering - the age begins with worship, prayer and the acknowledgment of sin (Genesis 8:20) • "And the Lord smelled a sweet savor" - God answers the offering with seed time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter (Genesis 8:21-22) • No burnt offerings now; the Lord asks that we present our bodies a living sacrifice and be not conformed to this world (Romans 12:1-2) • Man's blood is required by man because man was made in the image of God - animals were not (Genesis 9:5-6) • A conscience is defiled when a culture guards animals above children in the womb (Genesis 9:6) • The bow in the cloud is the token of God's covenant of mercy, now waved back in His face as a flag of pride (Genesis 9:13-17) • Nimrod rises as a mighty hunter, promises protection, and men pile into Shinar instead of replenishing the earth as commanded (Genesis 10:8-10, 11:1-3) • God warns against men joined house to house with no place left to be alone with Him (Isaiah 5:8) • Babel's rebellion seeds the idolatry and false religion repeated in every ancient nation - the choice is Christ or ancient Babylon Scripture: Genesis 8:17-22 · Genesis 9:1-17 · Genesis 10:6-10 · Genesis 11:1-3 · Romans 12:1-2 · Isaiah 5:8 Also in this service: Congregational singing of hymn 62, "Crown Him with Many Crowns," with prayer before and after the study.
