Into The Heart Of Rome | Pastor James Knox
Wednesday Prayer & Mid-Week Service · Colossians 4:2 · Faith Baptist Church, Williston, Florida
Rome was the iron kingdom of Daniel 2 that could tax, crush and kill — yet an unnamed believer carried the gospel into it, started a church, and reached Caesar's own household.
In this message:
• Daniel 2:36-40 — four Gentile world powers, and only the fourth is called strong as iron, breaking in pieces and bruising
• Luke 2:1-4 — power to tax the whole world is universal dominion, and it moved Joseph to Bethlehem so prophecy would be fulfilled
• John 19:12-16 — "We have no king but Caesar": trusting Christ meant choosing against a power that could take everything you owned
• Acts 25:13-27 — Paul admits Rome holds the power of death, and still will not deny Christ to save his own life
• Romans 1:15-16 — Paul wanted Rome because the gospel of Christ is the power of God, a greater power than the empire
• Romans 15:18-24 — Paul had not yet been to Rome; someone else got there first with the gospel
• Romans 16:3-5 — a church already assembling in a house in Rome, started by a man Scripture never names
• Philippians 4:21-22 — saints in Caesar's own household, because somebody went to the door nobody would knock on
• God uses nobodies: take the gospel where it has not gone, without recognition, without a record, without likes
Scripture: Colossians 4:2 · Isaiah 40:31 · Daniel 2:36-40 · Luke 2:1-4 · John 19:12 · John 19:15 · Acts 25:13-27 · Romans 1:15-16 · Romans 15:18-24 · Romans 16:3-5 · Philippians 4:21-22
