Zeal

Zeal | Pastor Jayson Hill Wednesday Prayer & Mid-Week Service · John 2:13-22 · Faith Baptist Church, Williston, Florida Jesus cleansed the temple because "the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up." From John 2, a call to be zealous for the Lord's house, His work, and repentance. In this message: • Why Christ cleansed the temple: "The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up" (John 2:13-22, 2:17) • The world accepts zeal for anything except zeal for the Lord • Zeal that consumes: "My zeal hath consumed me" (Psalm 119:139) • Being controlled by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18) • Zealous for a clean house of God: open, unrepentant sin put out of the church (1 Corinthians 5:1-7) • Addicted to the ministry of the saints (1 Corinthians 16:15) • Be zealous therefore, and repent (Revelation 3:19) • Phinehas turned away God's wrath because he was zealous for his God (Numbers 25:1-13) • Lacking zeal means lacking love: the love of Christ constrains us (2 Corinthians 5:14), and the zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this (Isaiah 9:7) Scripture: John 2:13-22 · Psalm 119:139 · Ephesians 5:18 · 1 Corinthians 5:1-7 · 1 Corinthians 16:15 · Revelation 3:19 · Numbers 25:1-13 · 2 Corinthians 5:14 · Isaiah 9:7 · Psalm 61:1-4 Also in this service: Hymn 431 "I Love to Tell the Story", hymn 252, scripture song Psalm 61:1-4, and prayer for the church family and for upcoming outreach and evangelism events.
