Destroy This Temple

Destroy This Temple | Pastor Jayson Hill Sunday Morning Service · Joshua 23:11 · Faith Baptist Church, Williston, Florida The temple was glorious on the outside and corrupt within, and when the Lord came into his Father's house he came with a scourge and with the words, Destroy this temple. In this message: • The temple was the focal point of Jewish worship, and Herod had been remodeling it for forty-six years (John 2:20) • Herod the Great built a magnificent temple, but his life was marked by murder, paranoia and death • The right people, the right building, the right scriptures, the right doctrine, and corruption on the inside (John 2:13-16) • It was not what they were doing, it was why: they loved to pray to be seen of men (Matthew 6:5; Matthew 23:5) • This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, but their heart is far from me (Matthew 15:7-8) • They trusted in themselves that they were righteous and despised others (Luke 18:9) • Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up, but he spake of the temple of his body (John 2:19-22) • Trust ye not in lying words: attendance and a King James Bible do not excuse an unamended life (Jeremiah 7:1-11) • Believers are the lively stones and the true temple, so put your emphasis into people (1 Peter 2:4-10; Matthew 22:37-40) Scripture: Joshua 23:11 · John 2:13-22 · Matthew 6:5 · Matthew 23:5 · Matthew 23:6 · Matthew 23:14 · Matthew 23:23 · Matthew 15:7-8 · Luke 18:9 · Jeremiah 7:1-11 · Matthew 22:37-40 · 1 Peter 2:4-10 Also in this service: Congregational hymns 199 ("Sinners Jesus Will Receive"), 425 and 256 ("It Is Well with My Soul"), closing hymn 209 ("Marvelous grace of our loving Lord"), the scripture song Psalm 111:1-3 from page 15, opening prayer led from the congregation, no special music this morning, and announcements of the potluck after service and the Lord's supper next week during the Sunday school hour.
