Seven Dispensations | The Seed of the Woman

Seven Dispensations | The Seed of the Woman | Pastor Jayson Hill Wednesday Prayer & Mid-Week Service · Genesis 3:14-15 · Faith Baptist Church, Williston, Florida A trace of the promise of Genesis 3:15 from the fall to the cross, following the seed of the woman through Seth, Noah, Abraham, Judah and David to Jesus Christ. In this message: • Genesis 3:15 is the promise the whole Bible turns on — enmity between the serpent and the seed of the woman • Eve looked for the redeemer in her firstborn: 'I have gotten a man from the Lord' (Genesis 4:1) • Cain slew Abel because his own works were evil and his brother's righteous (1 John 3:11-12) • Seth is appointed another seed, and the genealogies of Genesis 5 exist to trace the promised line (Genesis 4:25) • Genesis 6 — the seed corrupted and judgment coming, but Noah found grace and the covenant was re-established (Genesis 6:8, Genesis 9:9) • The line narrows: Abraham (Genesis 12:3), Isaac (Genesis 21:12), Jacob (Genesis 28:14), Judah and Shiloh (Genesis 49:10), David (2 Samuel 7:12, Psalm 89:3-4) • Abraham on Mount Moriah — 'God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering' (Genesis 22:8) • A body prepared, made of a woman in the fullness of time (Psalm 40:6-7, Hebrews 10:5, Galatians 4:4) • The seed is Christ (Galatians 3:16) — the serpent bruised his heel at the cross and had his own head crushed by it (Hebrews 2:14) Scripture: Genesis 3:14-15 · Genesis 4:1-8 · Genesis 4:25 · Genesis 5:1-29 · Genesis 6:1-8 · Genesis 9:6-10 · Genesis 12:1-7 · Genesis 15:1-6 · Genesis 21:12 · Genesis 22:1-18 · Genesis 28:13-14 · Genesis 49:8-10 · 1 John 3:11-12 · Hebrews 7:14 · Revelation 5:5 · 2 Samuel 7:8-12 · Psalm 89:3-4 · Matthew 1:1 · Luke 1:35 · Psalm 40:6-7 · Hebrews 10:5 · Galatians 4:1-5 · Isaiah 7:14 · Galatians 3:16 · Revelation 12:1-5 · Revelation 13:8 · John 1:29 · Hebrews 2:13-16 · Psalm 117 Also in this service: Congregational singing of hymn 329 'Sitting at the Feet of Jesus' and hymn 261 'Trust and Obey', the scripture song Psalm 117, and congregational prayer for the church family, for the lost, for visitors, and for the coming evangelism schedule — Friday street ministry and a Bible tent, tract work at the stadium, a Bible table at the Peanut Festival October 3, Faithful Friday door-knocking in Williston October 23, a ladies fellowship and cookbook night October 24, a family night December 5, and those going out to preach in Salt Lake City.
