The Ladder from Heaven

The Ladder from Heaven | Pastor Jayson Hill Wednesday Prayer & Mid-Week Service · John 1:45 · Faith Baptist Church, Williston, Florida A midweek study closing John 1: Christ's word to Nathaniel in verse 51 sends us back to Jacob's ladder in Genesis 28 — and shows who the ladder to heaven really is. In this message: • John 1:51 sends the reader back to Jacob's dream of the ladder in Genesis 28:12 • The ladder was the type and shadow; Christ is the very image of the thing (John 1:51) • Only one who is both Son of God and son of man could join heaven and earth (John 1:49-51) • The serpent's lie was that men would be as gods (Genesis 3) — in truth God became a man • Our iniquities caused the separation (Isaiah 59:2); peace was made through the blood of his cross (Colossians 1:20) • Babel could not be built to heaven, and Israel stumbled seeking righteousness by works (Romans 9:31-33) • Jacob slept while God set the ladder up — God did all the work; man is told to behold (Genesis 28:12) • The gate of heaven Jacob saw (Genesis 28:17) is the door of John 10:9 — Christ, and no other • Those born again have access to the Father and go in and out to minister; wake up, the time is short Scripture: John 1:45 · John 1:47 · John 1:49-51 · John 1:1 · John 1:10-11 · John 1:14 · John 1:19 · John 1:26 · Genesis 1:1 · Genesis 28:10-13 · Genesis 28:17 · Genesis 3 · Isaiah 59:2 · Colossians 1:20 · 1 Peter 2:24 · Romans 9:31-33 · Romans 10:1-3 · John 10:9 · Job 1:6 · Revelation 4:11 Also in this service: Congregational singing of hymn 179 "Holy Bible, Book Divine" and hymn 489 "Down at the Cross (Glory to His Name)", the scripture song Revelation 4:11 "Thou Art Worthy", announcements on the t-shirt order, the Lord's Supper during the Sunday school hour and a members meeting after service, and time given to the men of the church to pray for the sick, for visitors, for those needing salvation and for the church family.
